It’s Now Illegal To Unlock Your Cell Phone

It’s Now Illegal To Unlock Your Cell Phone People say that US cell phone service providers charge astronomical amount for their spotty service. The companies do not unlock iPhones. They have even made it “illegal” to unlock an iPhone.

A locked iPhone cannot work with all mobile phone service providers. Usually, it is locked to the service you are using. You cannot change the service provider. If you want to switch to another service, you will have to pay a considerable amount of surcharge for the smartphone (For example $600 rather than $200 for a phone).

The service providers say that it is their right to keep the smartphone locked as they have subsidized the “low” price of $300 for iPhone. This is unbelievable because iPhone cannot cost them $700.

If you are using a phone for more than two years, you can get it unlocked by AT&T. In the same way, Verizon can also unlock your phone. However, the company will unlock it for only international mobile phone providers. If you are in the USA, you cannot get it unlocked in order to switch to another cell phone provider based in America. This means if you choose to leave Verizon, your iPhone will be worthless.

According to most people, these companies are charging astronomical rates to them. European companies, on the other hand, charge much lower prices. For example, Walmart charges $50 for a cell phone plan, but Verizon and AT&T charges $90 for the same plan.
